Vladimir Mau

Vladimir Mau Prof. Mau’s research focuses on the history of Russian economic thought and economic reforms, history and theory of economic policy, comparative analysis of economic policies, political economy. He published more than 20 monographs, books and manuals in Russia and the United Kingdom, and over 400 brochures and articles (in the Russian, English, French, German and Italian languages).

Vladimir Mau was elected Rector of the Academy in 2002 and re-elected in 2007.

In 1997-2002 Prof. Mau was Director of the Working Center for Economic Reforms under the RF Government.

Between 1993 and 1997 Vladimir Mau was Deputy Director of the Institute for Economy in Transition

In 1991-1993 he served as adviser to the Acting Chairman of the RF Government

In 1981-1990 Vladimir Mau was a research fellow at the Institute of Economics USSR Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Economic Policy

In 1981 he graduated from the Moscow Plekhanov Institute of National Economy

Member of the editorial boards of the journals “Voprosy Ekonomiki” [“Problems of Economics”], “Rossiia v globalnoi politike” [“Russia in Global Affairs”], “Vestnik Evropy” [“The Herald of Europe”], and “Journal of Economic Transition” (RAND). He is editor-in-chief of the journal “Ekonomicheskaya politika” [“Economic Policy”] jointly published by the Academy of National Economy, Institute for the Economy in Transition, and the World Bank.
