Leslie A. Pal

Leslie A. Pal Leslie A. Pal is Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy and Administration at the School of Policy and Administration at Carleton University, and Director of the Centre on Governance and Public Management.

Dr. Pal has served on the national boards of the Canadian Political Science Association, the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, the Institute on Governance, and the Performance and Planning Exchange. He also has served on the editorial boards of Canadian Public Policy, Canadian Journal of Political Science, Canadian Public Administration, and the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis. He was the Director of the Canadian Parliamentary Internship Programme from 1998 to 2001. He served as the first Chair of the Accreditation Board of the Canadian Association of Programs of Public Administration (2006-2009), and was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association and chair of its Committee on Research and Training. In February 2012 he was appointed to the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission as one of three commissioners for the province of Ontario.

He has served as consultant to the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples, Statistics Canada, the Canadian federal departments of Justice, Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Treasury Board, the Privy Council Office, the Canadian International Development Agency, the Canadian Public Service Agency, Human Resources and Development Canada, Heritage Canada, and Industry Canada. His international consulting practice has included work with the Ukrainian Academy of Public Administration, the Open Society Institute (Budapest, Bosnia, Mongolia), the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the World Bank, the OECD, the Swedish International Institute for Public Administration (SIPU), and the Hong Kong Civil Service Training and Development Institute.
